And by weekend, I really mean starting on Thursday.
My co-worker and I ventured out of our offices to grab some fresh air and grub. Prior to leaving, we searched on the Savannah Menu site to see what deals we could find. Once we saw that B. Matthew’s Eatery had buy one entree, get the second 50% off; we were sold!
Enter the Rocket Greens Salad! Plus unpictured corn chowder. Yeah, it’s summer but our offices are freezing. And salad totally count as an entree at B. Matthew’s so we were happy and so were our pockets.
Friday, we had the same problem. Neither of us wanted to eat our packed lunches. So I decided we would leave a few before the lunch crowd and go to my second favorite salad place (my first is Green Truck), which is Kayak Cafe. Kayak is nestled in the pre-lobby area to a downtown gym and I always picture it being more in a stand alone setting. But their salads are amazing. My favorite is the Iron Booster, add tofu.
I get the large even at lunch. And I eat every. last. morsel.
Friday night I entertained clients at The Olde Pink House for dinner. Sorry I didn’t grab pictures during the meal, but as always, they did not disappoint. Mac and Cheese Jalapeno Poppers and BBQ Chicken Sliders for appetizers while we each had a different entree. I opted for the pecan encrusted chicken with blackberry sauce and sweet potatoe with caramel & pecans and collards accompanying.
Saturday morning I woke up super early to run to our meeting spot for our CREW run. The group I mentor had 5.5 on the books and despite the mugginess they brought it. It’s amazing, especially the ladies that I have known since I coached them in January towards their first 5k, just how much progress they all have made. And the conversations that go on while we run. All I have to say is God Bless the male runners and their physiques {insert school girl giggle}.
After a few errands (and one super fun errand that I will have a separate post about later!), I headed over the Port Royal, SC. Never heard of Port Royal? Yeah, me either.
I am really enjoying volunteering for Ultras and love everyone with LowCountry Ultras that I have met thus far. For this race, runners ran a 12.5 mile out and back course twice. So there was not as much time spent seeing the runners as there was the last time. The first place finisher, Joe H., finished in 7:14 for 50 freakin’ miles. Hot damn! He also just started working at Fleet Feet Savannah a few weeks ago, so go visit him, congratulate him on his stellar run, and buy some stuff. Oh and ladies- I made sure to do a solid for y’all– he is single. You’re Welcome.
I also got to hang out with my friends April and Dan at the Ultra. It’s always great to be around like-minded people who love to give back to a community who has given us so much. Next year, April… you and me, girl. 50k?!?
Sunday was another Funday.
I woke up early and went grocery shopping before we went to the beach for some margaritas and sun.
We grabbed some lunch/brunch at AJ’s Dockside. I made the mistake of ordering a brunch item… I should really stick to their mainstay of seafood. But no worries– the back river views and great company of my hubby never disappoint.
How was your weekend? Anything fun and exciting?

Those salads look delicious! My office is the same – I have to put ON a sweater when I get to work, and remember to take it off before I leave… just a little backwards!
Backwards indeed.
I love race volunteering! Fun! I had a great weekend, very relaxing without a lot going on.
Relaxing is good for the soul!! Especially with y’alls temps down there!
the idea of a 50 miler makes me puke in my mouth a little bit.
I did when I said that I wanted to do a 50k outloud. 50 miles is just crazy talk
Love when the weekend starts on a Thursday
A 7:14 pace for 50 miles?!? Oy.
He completed in 7 hours 14 min…. so 8:40 pace, based on my app. Which is still freakin’ rad!!
you should try “the vegetarian” salad over at Kayak…hummus, feta, a little pita and you can always add tofu
Great. Now I want to jump ship on the salad I brought…. I love pita. And their tofu. Lunch date one day??
OMG I MISS YOUR FACE!!! 2 weeks is too long
Beach next weekend??!?!?! Emmie misses her Aunt Vicki!
We used to live in Beaufort, right near the Naval Hospital in Port Royal when my husband was stationed as a drill instructor in the Marines. They have an adorable little “beach” called The Sands and you can drive your car and park right next to the water. So your in the Beaufort River but the kids love it. The March for Babies Walk is in Port Royal every April and it takes you from the Naval Hospital (or skate park right outside the hospital) to The Sands Beach and back.
Downtown Port Royal is adorable. Did you get a chance to stop at the Port Royal Farmer’s Market (which is at the skate park/park)? It’s fabulous! I could talk about how fantastic Port Royal (and Beaufort for that matter) really is, can you tell?
I wish I knew that! The historic (I believe) downtown looked so adorable!! I was only there for the race, so I didn’t get to check out much. But I want to make the short drive back and explore!
