Quick Review and Sunday Funday

The other week I was approached by Aqua Gear to do a review on a product of my choice (under$40). I selected the Finis Tempo Trainer Pro and since it was on-sale, it was below $40 :)

I was excited to take it to the pool, because for safety reasons I didn’t want to take it on an open water swim. Is that the metronome or a boat?

So I went over to the Y to swim a mile and test it out! I didn’t take any photos because I felt like everyone would look at me. Let’s take a peek at what I found to be it’s pros/cons:

Pros:

- Easy to set-up and the booklet has good tips for pacing as well

- Audible in the water

- Great customer service from AquaGear. I am ALL about some nice people!

Cons:

- I put the metronome (minus clip) under my cap. It felt kind of odd, because it created a gap in between my head and the cap so water was ‘wooshing’ over my ear.

- I then tried to clip it to my goggles and when I pushed off the wall from my flipturn with any amount of gusto, it fell off or flapped.

Overall:

I do think it’s a great tool to use for someone who is new to swimming, does not push off the wall like they are pretending to be Missy Franklin (because let’s get real, I pretend!), and for someone who wants to work on stroke drills.

I love Sundays. And when I can make them even more than just a workout, nap, plus lounging… I am all game.

Yesterday, I agreed to drive an hour out to the middle of no-where to meet up with my friend, Holly, for a run. It would be her PDR: 10 miles. I was so excited that she invited me along. It’s been so fun to watch Holly enjoy running. I ran her first 5k with her, which we found out later was mapped out to 4miles (we called them “country miles).  She conquered the bridge with me, despite a fear of heights/bridges. And today, she would see how amazing a double digit run can be!

I did make her promise though. If I drove ALL the way to no man’s land, I would get to either go in their pool or ride their 4-wheelers.

Deal.

Not only did we rock the 10 miles.  While we were in the middle of stretching, she got a call to remind her that her little sister was singing in church that morning. So we hauled up in the truck and stood in the back to hear her. Beautiful voice! And yes, we were in our stinky run clothes. But no one seemed to mind :)

Once back; we swam, I held a chicken, and we went 4-wheelin’ down to the creek so I could rope swing. But I DID NOT drop into the water. Apparently there are gators in that creek. Yes, they are upstream or whatever. But I don’t do gators ;)

All of that before noon. Apparently that is what happens when you have two, young boys in the house! Thanks Holly for such a fun morning. Tell my chicken friend, HI :)

The rest of my Sunday really didn’t compare. So I’ll just paint the picture of ‘nap/couch/clean’. Fun, eh?

How was your weekend? Do you like Sunday Fundays?
