I think I found my abs.
Deep down inside.
While doing planks, 100′s and other exercises to engage my core; I pictured myself gliding over the finish line at my first Ultra or next Marathon in only a sports bra (and my cute Brooks Run Skort).
Fleet Feet Savannah, out of their CREW office, is offering another class! Pilates!
Now every time I hear the word Pilates I immediately think of reformers and trendy uptown studios in NYC or LA.
But you don’t get the moss lined trees while lying in a studio, do you?
About thirty of us gathered for the first class (and bonus! First one was free for all!) and we spread our mats out in Daffin Park. I was a little nervous, because I haven’t been doing the appropriate cross training like I should be. And boy oh boy, did the others hear me groan during those little leg circles and “over the rainbows” with your legs. I never realized just how weak my hips were!
It was a great class to get back into the flow of a group class and a feel for Pilates. It was not intimidating and not overly structured. You could laugh, ask questions, and soak in the breeze if need be! She also geared some exercises towards our group since most of us are runners.
I think this is the perfect addition for my routine, a great way to unwind, and an amazing way to help me achieve my {lofty} goal of running a race without a shirt on!
