Charleston…

Three things I am so proud of myself for doing this week:

1- I ran the Cooper River Bridge for a 6 mile run total. I was in Charleston for the week for work and it was nice to enjoy battle the back and over on the bridge, since Savannah is slow and fast one step up from slow for me!

I didn’t get a picture of my own, because it was o’darkthirty

2- I ate Crispy Pig Ears and Duck Hearts. And loved every minute of their savory perfection. We dined at Husk in Charleston and consequently right after I ate there, it was voted one of the top new places in the US. It’s fate. Actually, they were voted that before I got there. But still equally as fabulous! If you visit Charleston, please go eat at Husk.

Pig Ears with a Fried Egg Salad. Delicious.

3- I ran 11.5 miles this morning with our training group. I was only supposed to do 10 of the 13 my group was doing, but I miscalculated the distance and where my Finn should pick  me up. I am getting back into the game and glad my coaches won’t let me add too much distance to the long runs. I will be back to where my group is soon enough! Great run!

I hope everyone has a great weekend…. for your viewing pleasure- here are some photos of Charleston. I only got a few because we were in trainings at the College of Charleston majority of our time there.

iCan run 26.2 miles

iCan because my Grandma T passed away from it.

iCan because my Grandma A can not.

iCan because the kids at Camp should be playing and not worrying.

iCan because my team mate’s mother is no longer here on earth.

iCan because I have too many ‘friends of the family’ who have been through immense pain.

iCan because I never want anyone to ever hear those words, “You have Cancer”.

iCan run 26.2 miles because I HAVE THE DetermiNation.

Please feel free to donate to my fundraising efforts for the American Cancer Society.

Why C.R.E.W. Training Rocks my Socks!

While I am running for DetermiNation and loving every moment of pounding the pavement to sucker punch cancer in it’s face. I am also loving our group that DNation runners in Savannah get to run with, C.R.E.W. through Fleet Feet. With CREW (I am going to leave the dots out, sorry I am being lazy), we get perks of it being attached to the store and all their connections.  Yesterday I got to partake in my favorite of all the perks. We got to eat!

nom nom

After our groups ‘rest week’ runs (half did 5 and full group did 10), we piled into a local private schools gym and was treated to Cha Bella and Thrive Cafe. nom nom. We learned about the benefits of eating organic, sustainable, and local. I love eating Cha Bella for special occasions and Thrive for daily eats.

My plate

So I piled my plate with an egg burrito, yogurt parfait, super food, watermelon slice, and the best peach I have ever had! SOOOO good! Such a great nutrition seminar and what a great way to end a run! It made me run to the grocery store and plan our meals for the week. Let’s do this!

Today, we went surfing for a few hours before deciding the jelly fish stings outweighed our pleasure we got from riding (or falling off) waves. Then we went out to my fellow DNation runners house and enjoyed a few hours on the boat. We spotted some dolphin, swam around the back river, and jumped off the dock! Such an amazing Sunday Funday!

My version of Boston Qualifying….

Baker’s Pride- homemade every day

So I had to have an EGD done on Wednesday. That’s the test that they shove a camera on a tube down your throat while you are under sedation. It’s pretty much a reverse colonoscopy minus that nasty prep. Jake Gingerhall (Finn/Tommy/Fiance + Reddish Hair + my dream of him looking like Jake + our best friend who actually came up with it = Finn’s new nickname) drove me to get the procedure and I thought it would be just an easy, peasy deal. Besides the nurse having IV issues….. this story is soooo much better in person with my natural theatrics, I woke up in the car.

And then I went all authoritative on Finn and made him drive to Baker’s Pride so I could get a donut. Apparently, I wanted to walk in and look like Lindsay Lohan with a stagger… because I am sure that’s what someone looks like after this sort of test. Well I got us two of those bad boy Boston Cremes that are homemade fresh every day and about the size of my head (which depending on the day and what client I secured or how cute my outfit, can be rather large).

I devoured mine in 3.15 seconds…. which in running world times, is enough to qualify for Boston. Give me my damn medal and a jacket please.

** Today was my first time running in three weeks! I will blog about that tomorrow night or so… with some  great pictures of the after event!**

Should I book Adam Sandler??

Wedding planning is a complete BLAST. I keep telling my Finn (our cute little, makes you wanna gag pet name for each other derived from ‘Finding Nemo’) that I want to have a wedding every year, with the same budget, and I guess to the same guy….. or Jake Gyllenhaal.

I feel like Finn looks like his reddish hair twin…. thoughts?

Anyways- we have the welcome dinner site, ceremony site, reception site, photographer (OMG- Jenn Hopkins out of Jacksonville… check her out or on Facebook, she updates constantly!! LOVE!), cake, florist, etc etc. Don’t want to give all the fun details away to our guests…. BUT we can’t figure out a DJ. I have spoken to two and want to talk to more…. I just can’t commit. I am not a live music/band person. And I want a DJ that is fun, but not corny. UGH. I want to get people up and moving…. I love to have fun, dance, and be goofy. Come on… and I do the sprinkler and dive bars. I AM THAT GIRL.

…… but I Definitely Do NOT Want the Wedding Singer! Oh and by I, I mean We… because I and We are totally interchangeable when wedding planning. Because “whatever you want” and “makes ME happy” = “WE”!! Just Kidding, Finn!

Any who, tomorrow I have *hopefully* my final lab/test…. and I am hoping to get cleared to run. But we will see….. maybe they can hold off on anything major til after our wedding (and marathon!).
